I created the A Funnier You Practice Snack because repetition and practice are essential if you are interested in being funnier. Practice a few minutes every day and you are on the way to being funnier fast.
How did you do with yesterday’s practice snack?
Every day words and phrases are a great way to practice the essential skill getting a laugh by twisting the expected meaning or answer and creating a surprise. The writers of the TV show Cheers used these device to great effect for the beloved character Norm.
Here’s an example: “How’s life treating you?”
Some of Norm’s replies:
- Like a baby treats a diaper.
- Like it caught me sleeping with its wife.
- It’s not, Sammy, but that doesn’t mean you can’t.
- Beats me,….. Then it kicks me and leaves me for dead.
