Being Funnier 5 Minutes at a Time.
I created the A Funnier You Practice Snack because repetition and practice are essential if you are interested in being funnier. Practice a few minutes every day and you are on the way to being funnier fast.
How did you do with the last practice snack?
Recall that being funnier is a skill that is made up of sub-skills. Being able to recognize the implied or expected meaning in a question or statement is sub-skill one. Sub-skill two is being able to create a list of possible twists either in your head or on paper.
By the way, twist is comedy jargon used since the beginning of time. James Mendrinos in his 2004 book The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Comedy Writing says that the twist is the fun part of the joke and the pathway to the laughter.
Back to today’s A Funnier You Practice Snack . . .
Have you ever been at the grocery store and at the checkout the clerk asks if you’d like to donate to a cause? How did you respond? Probably, “no thanks, not today.”
Today you are going to practice coming up with possible twists.
Do you want to donate $2 to end world hunger?
